200 days of full-scale war: Report of the 280 Days Charity Fund from July 22nd to September 10th
13.09.2022
Our team hopes that very soon we will report in the usual mode, not counting the days of war. And the recent success of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is very inspiring!
But the war goes on, and together we continue our joint struggle for the health of a new generation of Ukrainians.
Over the past 50 days, together we have achieved the following:

1. Support program for perinatal centers and maternity hospitals

  • Main news: we have purchased a pediatric resuscitation vehicle for the Chernivtsi Regional Children's Clinical Hospital worth UAH 3,200,000. This modern Volkswagen Crafter is equipped with all the necessary medical equipment to provide emergency care for small patients: a gurney, an aspirator, an infusion pump, a pulse oximeter, a suction device, a blood pressure monitor, oxygen cylinders, as well as a Hamilton T-1 ventilator. This became possible within the framework of the project "Life will win the war", funds for which were provided by Philip Morris International. You can watch this video.

  • For the maternity ward of the Kagarlyk Multidisciplinary Hospital (Kyiv region, Obukhiv district), which currently accepts many displaced pregnant women, we purchased a new comfortable and fully electric transformer bed for childbirth, worth UAH 71,200. Ukrainian women in labor deserve maximum comfort at such an important time in their lives!

  • Together, we significantly improved the material base of the Vinnytsia Regional Perinatal Center of the Regional Clinical Hospital named after M.I. Pirogov. Thanks to fundraising initiated by philanthropist Anna Nischnianidze we've purchased for the Perinatal Center a Bair Hugger 775 heater worth UAH 80,000, as well as 6 heat-stabilizing blankets with abdominal and pelvic access worth UAH 5,400, which allow maintaining the necessary body temperature of patients during surgical interventions. Furthermore, thanks to a grant from the US organization Alight, we've purchased 4 phototherapy lamps worth UAH 143,600, which are already saving newborns from jaundice. Also, the Perinatal Center received fitness balls for delivery rooms to ease the condition of pregnant women during labor.

  • KNP "Vyzhnytsya Multidisciplinary Intensive Care Hospital" of the Vyzhnytsya city council in Chernivtsi region received Lullaby Warmer (General Electric) -- a resuscitation system for newborns worth UAH 670,500 thanks to our anonymous benefactor. Previously, babies born prematurely had to be transported to other medical institutions and separated from their mothers for a long time. From now on, it is possible to prevent such situations, speed up the process of the child's recovery, as well as strengthen the bond between mothers and babies. Thanks to Iryna Nykorak for the informational support on the project.

  • For the Zhytomyr regional perinatal center of the KNP "Regional perinatal center" ZhOR, which suffered from an airstrike by the occupiers at the beginning of the war we've purchased a Sonicaid 3-1 fetal monitor for two fetuses, worth UAH 535,080. This became possible thanks to the financial support of the Ukrainian American Cultural Club of Houston. This equipment allows timely identification of intrauterine fetal heartbeat disorders, including in twins, and prompt response to prevent pregnancy complications.

2. Targeted support program for mothers-to-be in need

  • We continue providing targeted assistance to pregnant women who are in a difficult situation because of the war. In the past 50 days, since the last report, 185 families have received hygiene products, baby products, baby food, clothes and more! Our team is currently finishing the processing of requests received earlier and we will shortly re-open the application form for assistance for pregnant women

  • We have a new massive warehouse, where we receive, pack and send parcels with addressed help for pregnant women. We are grateful to our tireless volunteers Yulia Kozar, Maria Lysitsa, Igor Lysitsa and Yana Isaenko, who are pounding this rock!

3. New partnerships
We would also like to report on the new partnerships for the sake of healthy pregnancy and the future of Ukrainian children:

  • In August, Ukraine Relief Fund supported targeted help for future mothers, providing charitable assistance in the amount of UAH 600,000 for the purchase and formation of 300 super boxes for pregnant women. The Ukraine Relief Fund charity initiative was founded by Victor and Olena Pinchuk and Victor Pinchuk Foundation, Eric and Wendy Schmidt and Schmidt Futures, Robert F. Smith and Vista Equity Partners, Minderoo Foundation by Andrew and Nicola Forrest, Bill Ford and General Atlantic Foundation.
The boxes contain all the necessary goods for the maternity hospital: hygiene and care products for the mother and baby, diapers, clothes, etc. Everything so that the pregnant woman can focus on expecting a child, and not worry about the need to get ready for childbirth. We are incredibly grateful to the Ukraine Relief Fund for this huge contribution to expectant mothers.

  • 280 Days Charity Fund joined the "Humanitarian post. Sustainable partnership program" humanitarian initiative of Nova Poshta. From now on, we can send and receive parcels free of charge to help pregnant women, hospitals and medical facilities - all our recipients who need humanitarian assistance. We are sincerely grateful to Nova Poshta for this opportunity to strengthen our organization in critical areas of work and promptly deliver vital cargo.

  • Thanks to the informational support of OLX Ukraine, we are collecting funds to fill relief packages with essential items for pregnant women in need. We are delighted to have such a powerful partnership and are confident that together with OLX we will raise awareness as well as more aid for families in need.

  • In August a charity jar of our foundation appeared in the Monobank application. So, helping our fund has become even easier! If you are a Monobank client, find BF 280 days in the "Charity" section or in "Jars for Good" and send a charitable contribution to support expectant mothers and newborns in Ukraine. You can also use a direct link to the fund's jar and set up a regular payment or round off the amount from purchases. Thanks to Monobank for this opportunity and to all the cats who help us.
